THE ANDROIDS ATTACK!
Big trouble for the Z fighters…Frieza is still alive! He's a little ticked about his recent defeat at the hands of Goku, so he's going to destroy the planet! Fortunately, a mysterious young boy arrives and does the last thing anyone expected him to do…he turns into a Super Saiyan! The boy refuses to reveal who he is until he meets Goku. But Goku's still missing, right? It would seem this boy would know where and when Goku is going to return. The fighters and the boy get to the spot just in time to see Goku return. After revealing he escaped by using one of the Ginyu Squads spaceships, he agrees to talk to the boy alone. The boy asks Goku to turn into a Super Saiyan. After he does, the boy turns into a Super Saiyan too and tests Goku's abilities. After this, the boy reveals to Goku that his name is Trunks, he is the son of Vegeta and Bulma (?!) and that he has come to warn the fighters of his future. In three years, Dr. Gero (you know him if you've seen the original DragonBall series) will release two androids that will attempt to take over the world (but only after they "kill" the not so good doctor). All the Z fighters will fight in the battle, and all will die except for Gohan. Unfortunately, Goku won't participate in the fight, because he's going to die of a heart disease one year before the battle! After being convinced that Goku is the hero his mother has said he is, Trunks gives Goku a cure for the disease, tells him not to tell the others about him or the androids, and then leaves for the future.
Unfortunately, Piccolo heard the whole thing. He decides not to tell the others about Trunks, but does tell them about the androids. Tien and Chaotzu go off to train, Yamcha goes to Bulma's to train, Vegeta gets Bulma's father to build him a ship like Goku's so he can train at 300 times gravity, Krillin goes to Master Roshi's to train, and Goku, Piccolo, and Gohan go off to train.
So three years pass. Goku doesn't get the virus, everyone gets stronger…and the androids attack! Goku appears to be easily taking care of android number 20, but then he suddenly realizes two bad things: 1) the androids can absorb energy blasts, making them stronger, and 2) he does have the heart disease! Yamcha rushes Goku to his house so he can get his much needed medicine, while Vegeta shows up…and he's a Super Saiyan now! He easily defeats 20, goofs it up fighting 19, but Piccolo is able to beat him. It's all said and done, right? Wrong! Trunks returns, and reveals they weren't the androids from his time. Bulma then arrives and recognizes that the still alive and running Android 20 is really Dr. Gero! The team attempts to find his lab before he can set Androids 16 and 17 loose, but they don't make it. The androids revolt, destroy Dr. Gero, set another android loose (only this one refuses to fight anyone…except Goku!), and set out to find Goku so they can kill him. Vegeta gets fed up and flies off to face off with the androids, the rest of the Z fighters lagging behind him. Can Vegeta destroy the androids? Let's find out as we start the episode summaries with…
DEADLY BEAUTY January 25, 2001
Vegeta, and Android 18 are face to face, ready to go at it. The android leads him on a madcap chase down a highway, where several cars are destroyed. The android decides to stop toying with Vegeta, just as Piccolo, Trunks, Tien, and Krillin show up. Android 17 steps in and tells them that if they interfere, 17 will join the fight. Otherwise, Vegeta and 18 are going at it one on one! Vegeta appears to be holding his own, but it doesn't last too long. He's easily beaten down and his arm is broke. Sensing what is about to happen, Trunks jumps into the bray hoping to save his father. Which means that 17 can fight now. Whoops.
NO MATCH FOR THE ANDROIDS! January 26, 2001
Trunks interrupts the fight between a broken Vegeta and Android 18. This violates the agreement made with 17, and now 17 can fight. Piccolo and Tien both make an effort to defeat the androids, but are beaten in a matter of seconds. The androids fly up to Krillin and tell him to fight if he wants, or they will show mercy. He starts to let them get away, but runs up and stops them. The androids reveal that they are finding Goku as part of a game. They then leave Krillin to tend to the beaten Z fighters.
LAST DITCH EFFORT January 29, 2001
After watching the androids nearly kill his friends, Krillin moves down to help them. After being healed by the Sensu beans, an ashamed Vegeta flies away. Piccolo tells Tien, Krillin, and Trunks to go get Goku and move him to a safe place. Piccolo himself then flies off, not telling anyone where he's going, but Krillin figures it out.
Once, Kame and Piccolo were once one entity. When Kame went to become the guardian of Earth, the evil inside of him was separated, and it became a being known as King Piccolo. When he was a young boy, Goku killed King Piccolo, but King Piccolo left an egg with his genetic tracings on it. The egg hatched and became Piccolo. Now that they need a super strong warrior, Piccolo wants to join with Kame so that they can become the strongest fighter in the Universe! Meanwhile, Goku's not getting any better, and Trunks says it will take 10 days for the medicine to work. Can Goku get better in time?
After some talking, Kame tells Piccolo he wants to watch things play out more before he decides whether or not to fuse with him. Piccolo tells him to take all the time he wants, but he won't leave until Kame makes up his mind.
Meanwhile, the Androids have gotten a car and run into a motorcycle gang. They start to fight the gang, but the gang runs off when the police arrive. The androids take care of the cops and depart, still in search of Goku. Meanwhile, Trunks and Krillin arrive at Goku's house to airlift him to Master Roshi's Place, with Gohan joining them after finally making it home.
