FREESTYLE HIGHLIGHTS

Blue Thunder and John Everett had just gotten the truck running strong, and apparently in his loss to Halid and Bulldozer he suffered some mechanical problems and was unable to make the call for freestyle. That still left 10 trucks waiting to tear up the track, and first out was Robby Haught in Skitso 4, who was looking to exact some revenge for  a bad racing performance. He did just that, scoring a 24 with some long wheelies and sideways hits like this one on the van setups.

Next out was Eddie Carmichael. If you'll remember back to last week at the opener, Eddie surprised some people and came away with a great performance. He had another solid run tonight, and scored a 22.

Sam Gemmet was the only other Team Bigfoot driver attending tonight, and he wanted to make it two solid runs for Team Bigfoot in his debut in Firestone Centennial. He did just that, and although he flipped a bit early, he managed a 20.

Joe Smith took High Roller through its paces and was very aggressive, but about a minute into the run he took on the huge car-van-van-ramp pyramid a little crooked and flipped, prematurely ending his run and giving him a 15.

Robby Haught had one good freestyle in Skitso 4, and wanted to make it two subbing for his brother Bill in Freak of Nature. He came up one point short of his run in Skitso with a 23 and some big air.

Zachary Prochera wanted to make up for an early exit in racing with a great freestyle, and came up with a 20, taking on the big pyramid in the center of the track.

Three trucks were left to go, and all three had solid runs in their debuts last week. Dustin Hart and Pure Adrenalin came onto the track first and had an amazing run, tearing up his truck's body and rolling the truck over and back onto its wheels! He had some trouble with backing up and keeping momentum, but his spectacular move earned him a 24 and tie for the lead with two trucks still left to go.

Other scores were as follows:

Halid Kurtic (Bulldozer)-18

Two trucks were left to run, and both had to beat a score of 24 to win. The first truck out was Mathew and his 20th Anniversary Grave Digger. He loves his freestyling, and evidently so did the crowd, because he took on everything and got a 27, taking the lead with great momentum and some crazy saves. He capped off a very successful night in racing with a great freestyle that meant the worst he could do was second in the competition to go along with winning the racing.

Josh Rhodes...is crazy! He won the freestyle last week with an amazing run and a 29 at East Coast, and he knew he had to have another crazy run in the seat of his new Half Breed 3. He hit everything out on the track and was just absolutely fearless. He just stood on the gas and let the half-Ford, half-Chevy truck fly, and the crowd went nuts for his run. He tied Mathew and Digger for the freestyle win with a 27, and both drivers congratulated each other on their efforts.

That's all from IMMJ Mid-Season Madness. We saw close racing and crazy freestyle to go along with a pumped-up crowd, and you can't ask for much more than that. Until next week, so long everybody.
