FREESTYLE HIGHLIGHTS

First out for freestyle at Sony Stadium was Alex Weber, one of a few drivers pulling double duty tonight. His first run was in Robert Fredericks' normal ride, the Avenger. Alex got crazy a little too early and flipped, scoring a 16.

Bill Haught brought Freak of Nature out for some freestyle action next. He was extra anxious after a week off due to sickness, and came out with some big air over the cars, then hit up the van-van setup and wheelied out of it. He also jumped the double backwards, then tried to take on the vans sideways and caught the back of one van, flipping the truck over with too much time left on the clock. It was good enough for an 18 from the judges.

Halid Kurtic rebounded after an early flip at the World Finals 3 with a 21 in freestyle tonight. Not one of his usual bonzai runs, but still a solid one that should help keep him where he's at in points. He ended up flipping the truck over in the mud pit, and the fans roared in approval.

Dustin Hart took Pure Adrenalin for a wild ride in freestyle, having the type of solid run that seemed to be the norm here at Sony. He also scored a 21 and would tie for the lead so far.

Robby Haught got back on track in racing, but he wanted the freestyle win as well. He came out doing great, sidesurfing and saving the truck, then doing a wheelie over the ice cream truck that he carried into the van setup and rode out. After that though, he caught a bad bounce from the cars and nosed the truck over on its lid, ending his run early. He scored an 18.

Next in the draw was tonight's racing winner, Alissa Skrivanek. She had a good run, nothing spectacular, but ended up flipping early after taking on the ice cream truck in reverse. She scored a 20.

Corey Davis was disappointed at being knocked out early in racing, but his freestyles have been getting better all year. He used to struggle keeping momentum up in some of his runs, and now that is becoming his strong point, and one that helps him win the judges over. He had another solid freestyle run, including some nice tailgate dragging wheelies, and scored a 23 to take over the lead.

Eddie Carmichael promptly went out and tied Corey for the lead with a 23. He was the only person all night to clear the double in reverse, and he also had a spectacular flip at the end of his run, getting the truck up on the left rear wheel, then nosing it over and endoing it. Team Bigfoot looked strong in freestyle tonight.

What more can be said about Josh Rhodes and Half Breed 3? He came to a track where most trucks were having trouble breaking out and having high-scoring runs and put in another 25 in freestyle to take the lead in the "Dig" style.

After that, Landon Harrison made himself tonight's "wheelie king", pulling some of the longest wheelies the crowd saw on the night, and also hitting several freestyle objects sideways. Another solid run, but not quite enough to take the lead from Dig with one truck left.

Other scores were as follows:

Mike Alston (Sniper)-13

Cory Schwab (Bigfoot T-Wrecks)-16

Corey Davis (Hot Shoe, subbing for David Stewart)-14

John Everett (Blue Thunder)-21

Robbie Milburn (Black Stallion 2000)-19

Glen Milburn (Demolition Man)-broke, could not freestyle.

Robbie MIlburn (Grave Digger 20th Anniversary, subbing for Eric Thiele)-13

The final truck out for freestyle was Alex Weber's Bear Foot. He knew the track since he had already freestyled with Avenger, and this may have helped him, but the fans saw a lot of skill in Alex's run. The rookie has been making strides all season long, and tonight was his night in freestyle. Included in his run were some nice wheelies, including one into the wall that he saved! He also kept good momentum, hit a couple of objects in reverse for variety, and tackled every object that got in his way. After a couple more nice saves on two wheels and a reverse hit on the double, Alex's time was up and he waited to see if he could beat Dig's score...9...9...9...27! Alex Weber is your winner at Sony Stadium! Two rookies take their first NTNT wins tonight, an amazing turn of events. Congratulations to both our winners; we leave you tonight with pictures from Alex's winning run in Bear Foot.
