RACING:
Tonight's racing course was unlike anything the drivers had ever raced. It was a combination of a J-drag and a St. Louis-style course, with many turns and turn poles involved. The NTNT officials wanted to give the drivers a challenge, and they did so. Robby Haught had a horrendous racing week last week and wanted to make up for it this week. He qualified second with a time of 33.03, setting the pace for the night along with John Everett's Blue Thunder, who seemed to have finally found their groove. It was hard for many drivers to avoid the poles tonight because of the challenging course.
ROUND 1 HIGHLIGHTS
Round 1 action saw some interesting races and matchups. Josh Rhodes and Half Breed 3 and Bill Haught in Freak of Nature had a good race, with Rhodes winning this round.
Bill would come back as the fast loser, however, after facing C.J. Bar in the fast loser race and picking up his first ever racing victory!
Mike Alston had some trouble in qualifying, but he bounced back in the first round and moved on to the next round, as did John Everett and the ever-improving Blue Thunder and many others.
ROUND 2 HIGHLIGHTS
Round 2 was where the action got a little closer. Dustin Hart had Pure Adrenalin pumping out horsepower and solid times, but lost a close race to Robby Haught and Skitso 4. After that, it was Josh Rhodes and the fast loser Bill Haught facing off again, with Rhodes again taking the win. Other second round action included Corey Davis and Alex Weber facing off, with Alex taking the win and making his first semi-final appearance.
SEMI-FINALS HIGHLIGHTS
The semi-finals came down to Alex Weber and Bear Foot and Robby Haught in Skitso 4 for the first pairing. Robby took the victory, looking very smooth in the process and moving on to his first NTNT finals.
Mike Alston was quickly coming back from his absence from Race 2 by moving through the racing brackets tonight. He was able to knock off his semi-final opponent, Josh Rhodes and Half Breed 3, and move on to make it a Team Meents-Skitso 4 final.
FINALS
Both Mike and Robby were in their first final round of racing this season in NTNT, and they wanted to make the best of their situation. It was an exciting race that lived up to the hype to say the least. Robby actually won the first race, but it had to be rerun because of lag, and the second time, Mike claimed his first racing victory of the season when Robby spun out after being behind going into the final turn.
