Afraid to be tied down by marriage, he refuse to make any commitments to his long-time girlfriend. She is thus disappointed and chose to end their relationship. The end of this relationship is the biggest regret of his life.

Temperament:

Hong Siu Lung is an elite of the Special Unit in the 21st century. He's very resourceful and has good martial art skills but his natural deposition is quite fickle and leaves his romantic feelings everywhere. Siu Lung is afraid of the responsibility and restraints that come with marriage, so he is unwilling to easily make promises. This causes his long-time girlfriend to feel disappointed and to firmly suggest that they part company. Siu Lung ends up losing a relationship that becomes one of his regrets in life.

Background and Encounters:

Hong Siu Lung participates in an experiment in crossing time, due to a lucky chance. The target place is the city of Ham Yeung in the year that the Chun king Ying Jing had ascended the throne during the Warring States time. Who knew that the time machine made a mistake and Siu Lung was sent to the Jiu state, more than a year before Ying Jing ascends the throne. Siu Lung travels back in time and fortuitously saves the life of an assassin named Sin Yau. He later meets Yuen Jung, who teaches him the Mak Ji Sword Skills and gives him the Mak family treasure - Gam Ji Ling.

Siu Lung continues on his journey and mistakenly helps the thief Fui Wu ambush Tou Fong and Wu Ting Fong, who were on their way back to Hon Dan. He secretly releases Ting Fong in order to prevent her from being humiliated by the thieves. Unfortunately, Ting Fong believes him to be working with them.

Siu Lung accidentally finds out that Tou Fong's trip had another reason : to help the Chun state return the Wo Si Jade to the Jiu state so they would release the hostage Ying Jing. He feels very worried because if Tou Fong is unable to complete his mission and Ying Jing isn't able to return to the Chun state, he will not be able to ascend the throne later on and become Chun Chi Wong. Then history will be changed and Siu Lung will not only be unable to return to the 21st century, he will no longer exist.

The date for the marriage of the Princess is coming up and the Jiu king sends Siu Lung to escort her to the Ngai state. He orders him to take the Lou Gung Mat Luk from the hands of Sun Ling Gwan of the Ngai when he has the chance. While on route to the Ngai state, he finds out that the princess was Jiu Sin. The two experience several hardships and he is finally moved by her deep feelings and promises her that he will keep his word of returning her back to the Jiu state.

With the help of Jiu Nga, he was successful in stealing the Lou Gung Mat Luk and gives it to her to return to the Jiu state while he will return to the palace to save Jiu Sin. Also, he manages to save Ying Jing and his mother but Ying Jing dies in the chaos that followed. Siu Lung was terrified and his face lost it's color but Ju Gei tells him an important secret: this man was a substitute and the real Ying Jing had been exchanged with the imposter while they were imprisoned. Siu Lung follows the directions given by Ju Gei and finds the Ngau family village. He is terrified to discover that Ying Jing had died in the chaos during a war. At this time, Jiu Pun's attempt at killing Jiu Muk in revenge for his mother's death had failed and he escaped to Siu Lung's location to avoid being captured. Ju Gei wanted Siu Lung to bring Ying Jing to her and he decided to create history on his own (as well as saving his own life) by having Jiu Pun impersonate Ying Jing.

Later Jong Seung Wong is poisoned to death by Lui Bat Wai and Jiu Pun formally ascends the throne. Siu Lung thought his mission was completed and could peacefully return back to the 21st century. Who knew that after ascending the throne, Jiu Pun spent his days seeking pleasure. Siu Lung knew that if this continued, Jiu Pun would never become a great leader. But when Siu Lung was worried about this, Sing Giu started a rebellion. Because Siu Lung and Jiu Pun had already known this would happen, the rebellion was quickly subdued. Jiu Pun knew that if Sing Giu didn't die, he will one day cause more trouble. He cruelly sentenced Sing Giu and the other leaders in the rebellion to be executed. Siu Lung was not pleased with Jiu Pun's cruelty.

Jiu Pun knew that although Bat Wai and Lou Oi seemed to be at odds, they were secretly collaborating together. He started to worry that they will try to start a rebellion of their own.

Siu Lung was worried about the truth of Ying Jing's death would come out and he went to the Ngau family village to take Ying Jing's foster parents away. Who knew that he would find the place burned to the ground. He became suspicious and purposely told Jiu Pun about Bat Wai going to the Ngau family village. Jiu Pun tells him that he was one who ordered the place burned and Siu Lung started to be afraid of him. He also started to feel that his presence was changing history but he knew that the history books made no mention of his name. He began to feel suspicious about the puzzle of his future life and safety.
