Episode 40 - Is Siu Lung and Ying Jing's Destiny At an End?

Wong Jin instead sides with Ying Jing and Bat Wai is angry, yet afraid. Ying Jing regains the authority and vacillates the group.

Within the Imperial prison, Ying Jing purposely tells Bat Wai his true identity and Bat Wai nearly dies from being so angry. Ying Jing again allows Bat Wai to die by drinking poisoned wine and he dies, albeit unpeacefully.

Ying Jing wanted to reward Siu Lung but he refuses. Siu Lung sees Ying Jing get dizzy with success and feels his mood become very complicated.

To intice Lou Oi in returning, Ying Jing hangs Lou Oi and Ju Gei's son in the public square within the palace. Ying Jing is unmoved as Ju Gei begs him. Lou Oi appears and Ying Jing cuts the rope holding the baby in front of them. The baby dies as it is dropped to the ground and the two are very saddened. The two commit suicide while Siu Lung tries to save them. He feels angry and sad when he is unable to do so.

Kam Ching is flustered and exasperated as she tells Siu Lung that Ting Fong had left a note before leaving. He hurriedly goes after her. Ting Fong had actually felt that she was no longer 'clean' and not good enough for Siu Lung. She is unmoved as he tries to tell her of his feelings. He then uses sign language to tell her [I Love You] and she is touched by his deep feelings.

Siu Lung watches the beautiful scenery of the sun setting while holding Ting Fong and Kam Ching. Sin Yau suddenly appears and silently tells Siu Lung that she loves him. Siu Lung was at a loss for words.

Ying Jing tests Siu Lung by offering half of the kingdom and reminds him of their ties of friendship between teacher and student. Siu Lung understood that being in the company of a king was like being with a tiger and wasn't moved by his offer. Ying Jing sees his reaction and decides on an action.

Siu Lung was about to take the two women along with other people away from Ham Yeung and sees that Wong Jin was waiting at the doors to the city with his troops.

They do successfully arrive at the Wu family fort but they are confronted with the report that Ying Jing had personally taken control of the troops to capture Siu Lung. He orders the group to hide in Jiu Nga's grave while he will try to take Ying Jing down with him. Ting Fong and Kam Ching had guessed at what he was planning and both swear that they will live and die with him...

The Ending  (Written by SC at the SPCNET Forum)

For those interested in the spoiler for it, and continuing where Jennifer ended it for episode 40,

Ting Fong and Kam Ching had guessed at what he was planning and both swear that they will live and die with him... The 3 are tearful and hug and decide to die together. Siu Lung is holding a torch waiting to light the explosives as soon as Ying Jing breaks through the grave.

Ying Jing arrives at the grave entrance and sees the picture of his mother on the entrance. He also sees that Siu Lung had dropped the transporter device on the ground by the entrance, so he knows they are behind the entrance. He has a flashback of how his and Siu Lung's figures were gone when viewing in the mirror and has some worries that if Siu Lung dies, he will also disappear. Ying Jing orders all his troops to leave, and is alone with Lee Si, his advisor. He asks Lee, if there is a way to make the name Hung Siu Lung disappear forever in history and that no one will ever remember him. Lee Si ponders this and answers that it's very easy--he can burn all books recounting Hung Siu Lung and kill all people who speak his name or try to record Hung's deeds. In a matter of 10 years, no one will remember who Hung Siu Lung is.

Ying Jing loudly claims that its a good idea and says that he never wants to see Hung Siu Lung's face again. They leave. And this is what happens, he does order the burning of books and slaughtering of those who dared record Hung Siu Lung's name. Siu Lung retires with Ting Fong and Kam Ching. Kam Ching is pregnant. His 1st son with Ting Fong is named Hung Bo Yee who claims at the end that he wants a more awesome, yet simple name--Hung Yu. When Siu Lung hears this, he is shocked because Hung Yu is the future Chor King (Chor Ba Wong) that took down the Tuern dynasty. He chases after his son, yelling at him for choosing such a name. The series ends with a historical recount of Chor Ba Wong's later deeds.
