An everlasting love story,
passed through generations
Love during tumultuous times,
Even though the heaven
and earth are changing,
Two hearts are still not changed!

The story begins at the end of the Ming dynasty in the reign of the Emperor Chongzhen (Moses Chan) who despite a great and wise rule, is faced with the weakening of his country that is hard to rescue, luckily he is supported by the Empress Chou (Maggie Siu) and the loving couple face the troubles together. Although there is political turmoil, Princess Chang Ping (Charmaine Sheh) and Princess Chiu Yan (Sonija Kwok) have a carefree life and spend their childhood days with Chow Sai Hin, the son of the Secretary of the Treasury. Hin is totally devoted to Chang Ping and the two swear their love for each other under the Lin Li tree.

Unfortunately, the path of Sai Hin and Chang Ping’s love is not a smooth one … one day, the Empress is framed by Lady Tin (Jay Lau) and she is sent away from the palace with her two daughters into the commoner’s world and Sai Hin loses contact with Chang Ping. At the cannon smelting workshop, Chang Ping meets Cho Sing Hing (Michael Tong), he is sympathetic towards her and then his feelings develop into love for her. At this time, the Chow family fall from favor and Hin is sent to the workshop to work, where he meets Chang Ping again. The truth is unearthed and the Empress and her daughters are once again called back into the court, luckily Hin is also invited into the palace as a teacher and the two meet once again. However, Hin is then called up to the battlefield and the two must part again.

The political situation is unstable and Lee Chi Shing attacks the capital, defeating the Ming Dynasty. Not long later, Ng Sam Gwai (Marco Ngai) brings in the Qing army and the Manchurians take over the realm. Sai Hin and Cheung Ping overcome more difficulties and meet again and they are finally given a proper wedding. On the night of their marriage, they both take poison to die for their country and an everlasting love story is forged.
