Serious crime squad sergeant Fong Nga Jai (Bowie Lam) grew up in a walled village of the New Territories and was well loved by his villagers. Jai works hard at his work and feels that he has a hope for a promotion. One day, the authorities send down a new team head Senior Inspector Ma Hau Yin (Joe Ma) and this suddenly changes his life. One talks only of honor and handles things smoothly; one has no soft feelings and follows all the rules; will the easy-going way or the strict way of handling matters have the best effect in this rural village?

Chauvinistic Jai only concentrates on his work and often sends his colleague Tao Chin Hung (Benny Chan) to go and look after his girlfriend Lau Yuk Yan (Eileen Yiu), this creates the perfect development for their own relationship and Jai is met with problems in his love affair. Coincidentally, childhood friend of Jai’s and doctor Luk Ying Cheung (Kenix Kwok) is faced with the pain of the death of her boyfriend and must fulfill her promise of looking after her boyfriend’s other pregnant girlfriend Wan Ka Lei (Tavia Yeung) and she is devastated. Jai and Cheung share the same circumstances and encourage each other, Jai develops feelings towards Cheung, but she only sees him as a big brother, falling for his superior Yin instead, yet Yin cannot put the pain of his own injuries behind him and buries his love towards Yin. Cheung encourages him to face the challenge and undergo surgery, can this operation make their love take a great leap?

After Jai is refused by Cheung, he is often laughed at by Lei, but after getting to know her he finds that he gets on with her very well and Lei naturally finds herself falling for him. And yet, Jai is very cool about his feelings, can he forget about his love towards Cheung? Is his love for Lei nothing more but sympathy?
