Hi! Just found your web site by accident. I'm a science teacher at Globe High School and was trying to find out some facts for my class re Afghanistan. For some reason, my students think it is a big oil producer which I have assured them it is not. Sad to say, some here still get it mixed up with Iraq! We need to learn more geography here in the States! Thank all you Marines for doing a great job for us. My son was recently with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Unit out of Camp Pendelton. His grandfather, my Dad, was was a medic on Iwo Jima with the 4th Marine Division. We love the Marines! You all do a fantastic job in incredibly difficult places. Last Friday, I showed my students a video clip in silence of the recently fallen in Iraq...almost all Marines. Then we stood to say the pledge as we always do every morning. Just wanted to say cool site, I got the pass work for your camp pictures but it is not working i am not sure if I have it right or not, if you could send me that so I could see the camp pictures that would be great....
I am about to head over there with HMH-769. So I am my wife would like to see where I am going to put her at ease a bit.
So what is the weather like right now what are we going to be arriving in rain or snow?
How is it in the camp? is there an PX I hear there is a subway and a starbucks also a burger king? we sure didn't have any of that in Iraq. Should be a change of pace.

Why do show only the non essential Marines in your photos?
It appears that a whole bunch of you just sit around and stuff.
You should show some real workers not pencil pushers.
Is your unit only combat support?
I know when I was there, we never stayed a BAF. We were always going to Farps/Fobs.
The only people who never saw action were the people in the rear.
Have you seen action? Let me know.

I think what you've done here is a great thing. I am a Marine myself, not on duty anymore though. I work for UPS now. The pictures you've posted have brought back so many memories, you can't begin to imagine.
I got this link from a friend at work, whose brother is over there now along with all you brave troopers. I was in the same situation you guys are in now, back in 91' in Saudi and in 93' in Somalia. I still go over some of the pictures I took from time to time.
I wish someone would have done what you've done here back then. You don't know how much this means to all the families who are able to see you guys. I passed around your link to some co-workers and they were all impressed.
Everyone gave great feedback about your link. I hope they wrote to back to you personally. They are always impressed with my stories. It's great for them to see actual pictures of what I've went through in some way.
As a request, post some pictures of the lines for the showers...this is something a lot of civilians don't realize what we go through just to get a 1-3 minute shower!
Again, keep up the good work and you can count this old Marine browsing your website now and then.

Although I'm an 0311 Purple Heart recipient & a Vietnam Vet, it wasn't until 8 November of this year that I attended my first Birthday Ball.
It was a very classy event run by the Marine Corps League and held at a country club.
Everyone wore tuxedos and miniature medals, except for me - I was in my Blues with full size medals.
We had an OUTSTANDING time!

I now fit the bumper sticker , not as lean, not as mean, but still a Marine. I have several friends who are on active duty and getting ready to head back to Iraq in March to straighten that thing out. He said they were going back in to the same places they turned over to the Army when they left. And you guys in Afganastan what a job that was. Semper Fi to all! I enlisted in 1980 when the hostages were taken in Iran.
Though we never got to go in and save them, I was an honor to serve and I
got the opportunity to meet President Reagan and to welcome the hostages
home. Shortly after 9/11, my son, then 17, asked permission to join the
Army National Guard. I feared for his safety but saw the committment in his eyes.
USMC does not have a split enlistment program like he got in the Army, so I gave him
my blessing and signed his papers.
To all those serving this great Nation, I extend my deepest thanks. I am as
proud of each of you as I am of my own son and I pray for your safe return to your
family and loved ones.
Thank you for your sacrifices, your patriotism and your dedication to keeping every
American safe.
And when you face down Osama, Saddam or any of the despicable creatures who try to
control through terrorism, give them your best Marine Corps Ooo-RAH! and send their

I saw the link to your site on Sgt Grit's newsletter.
I think this is a great thing you've done. I read
that you started this for your family to keep in
touch with you, and you have done just that for your
blood family, and you other family - Marines.

I was the S-2 with 3/23 81-89, and often flew
with you guys to such wonderful places as Ft Polk,
Camp Shelby, and dozens of places nothing more than
a spot on the map. The unit then was HML-767.
You guys are doing a great job over there.
Stay safe, stay alert, and watch each other's backs.

Now that all the sappy shit is out of the way, I was looking throught the "day off" photos and happen to
see a Mr. Bobby "Q" Vorhoff in one of them. Is he still flying in the pink helo? Christ, they'll let anybody
in country these days. I didn't know we were that hard up. Well, I guess it's a good thing to let WM's like
him in a combat zone! What rank is he now, a friggin 20 star general? I guess it's not who you know, buy who
ya' blow!! Seriously, watch him! Don't fall for the drop the soap gag!

Lcpl Boudy, do me a BIG favor, please give him my email address and have him email me. He and I go way back.
Ask him to tell you some of the stories sometimes.
I'm going to mail him a blow up fuck doll like he sent to me when I was in boot camp.

I am a former Marine. Served in Korea with
Baker Co., 1st Bn., 5th Reg., 1st Marine Div. Was
in a machine gun section but, as you can probably
appreciate, not for long. Some Chinaman's hand
grenade found me and "ended my war".
Proud of the meticulous job you men are
doing in Iraq. It seems that most of the Iraqis
appreciate what you have/are doing for them. Maybe
those will soon put a stop to the unappreciative few.
