Obi-Wan Kenobi was taken as an infant to the Jedi Temple. He was trained in the Jedi Arts by Master Yoda and the other Jedi Masters. With 4 weeks to go to his 13th birtday he hadn't been chosen by a Jedi Master or Jedi Knight to become his or her padawan. After Master Qui-Gon refused to take him as a padawan, young Obi-Wan was sent to join the Agri-Corps. He ended up on the same transport as Qui-Gon, but even after Obi-Wan helped Qui-Gon with the crisis aboard the transport he was still denied his dream to become a Jedi Knight. Qui-Gon finally took Obi-Wan as his padawan after Obi-Wan demonstrated he would of given his life to save Qui-Gon and the people of Bandomeer. Even before Qui-Gon took Obi-Wan as his padawan, the two had a connection that is usually only created after a Master and Padawan learner had been together for a while.

When Obi-Wan was 25, he and Qui-Gon were sent to negotiate a settlement with the Trade Federation, who had imposed a blockade of the small planet of Naboo. The Trade Federation tried to kill Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, and the two Jedi had to fight their way off the Federation ship and get to the surface of Naboo. On Naboo Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon had to rescue young Queen Amidala and get her off Naboo to save her life. The rescue was a sucess, but the hyperdrive on the Queen's ship was leaking and the group had to land on Tatooine. While on Tatooine Qui-Gon, Amidala, disguised as the handmaiden Padme', Jar Jar Binks and R2D2 met young Anakin Skywalker and his mother. Qui-Gon thinkin Anakin was the mysterious chosen one set out to set him free. After several manuervings on his part, Anakin was freed and first met Obi-Wan on the Queen's ship. After the Queen decided to go back to Naboo because the Senate wasn't going to do anything right away to help her people, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were locked in battle with the evil Sith Lord, Darth Maul. Maul killed Qui-Gon in battle while Obi-Wan watched on. After Obi-Wan fought a hard battle with the Sith Lord and finally killed Maul, Qui-Gon asked Obi-Wan to train Anakin in his dying breath. Obi-Wan was granted permission to train Anakin by the council even though Yoda did not approve.

Ever since his Master died on Naboo, Obi-Wan has buried his feelings. He doesn't want to feel as close to anyone as he was with Master Qui-Gon. He and Anakin have become good friends and do share a connection, but he doesn't feel the same bond he had with Qui-Gon with Anakin. He has become extremely serious and has a strange feeling that something bad will happen due to Anakin's strong emotional attachment to Amidala.

Obi-Wan has been training young Anakin within the Jedi Temple. They are often sent on missions when needed. Obi-Wan has a permanent residence in the Jedi Temple.

Suggested Reading : The "Jedi Apprentice" books. They are children's books but are very insightful. They chronicle the earlier years of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's Master/Padawan relationship. "The Phantom Menace" novel is also a great book, it gives more background to Obi-Wan and Gui-Gon's father and son relationship.

Amidala is the daughter of farmers on Naboo. When she was younger she moved into the city with her grandmother. She had been trained by the best teachers Naboo had to offer while living with her grandmother. Amidala had rules the city of Theed for 2 years prior to be elected the Queen of the Naboo. Amidala is young but is not naive, like Darth Sidious told Nute Gunray. Amidala is wise beyond her years and was her planet's only hope when the invasion of the droid army had taken place. Shortly after the Invasion of Naboo, Amidala took on the disguise of the handmaiden, Padme' Naberrie. Her best friend and body guard, Sabe', took her place as Queen. When Amidala and her entourage were captured by the Neimodians and the droid army, Amidala would not cooperate. Amidala and the royal court were then told to be taken to Camp 4. They were rescued by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, who had the Gungan, Jar Jar Binks, with them. Qui-Gon told her highness that she would be killed if she stayed and it would be best if she went with the Jedi to Coruscant. Padme'/Amidala gave Sabe' a signal to go with the Jedi. Sabe' chose three of the handmaidens to go with her: Padme', Eirtae' and Rabe'. During the escape from Naboo the hyperdrive was damage and leaking. The ship couldn't make it to Coruscant and had to land on Tatooine. On Tatooine, the queen insisted that Padme' accompany Qui-Gon into Mos Espa. This is where Padme'/Amidala first met Anakin. After Anakin's win of the Boonta Eve pod race, Qui-Gon had finally acquired the parts needed for repairs and Anakin had his freedom.

On Coruscant, Amidala met with Palpatine and Sabe' once again became a royal handmaiden. Senator Palpatine convinced Amidala to call for a "vote of no confidence" in Chancellor Valorum. She was reluctant since he had been Naboo's strongest supporter, but when he failed to help she gave in and called for the "vote of no confidence." Amidala decided that her place was with her people and that she would go back to Naboo, despite Senator Palpatine's protest.

Amidala along with her handmaidens, the small handful of Naboo pilots, the Jedi, and Anakin headed back to Naboo. She thought of a plan to defeat the Neimodians, but needed the help of the Gungans. She asked Jar Jar for his help, and he helped the rag-tag band of heroes contact the Gungans who had fled Otoh Gunga for the Gungan "Sacred Place". Sabe' was again dressed as the Queen and pleaded with Boss Nass for help. Amidala realized she needed to be the one to ask for his help, Sabe' was not doing so well. She revealed the ruse, not knowing that the Jedi already knew. Boss Nass was surprised that the Naboo did not think they are better than the Gungans and agreed to help. Amidala planned to capture the Viceroy, while the Gungans led the battle droids away from Theed, and the Naboo pilots attacked the Droid Control ship. After a battle to get to the throne room, Amidala captured the Viceroy.

In the eight years since the the battle to save Naboo, Amidala has ruled her planet in peace. She has seen Anakin over the years and the two have become closer, but no serious relationship has come about. This is mainly due to the distance between the two of them. Amidala has recently come to visit her friends and discuss some important matters with Chancellor Palpatine.

Suggested Reading : "Star Wars Episode I: Journal - Queen Amidala". It is a children's book but it gives a better insight to Amidala during "The Phantom Menace"

Anakin was discovered on the desert planet of Tatooine by Qui-Gon Jinn. Qui-Gon realised that the Force was strong with Anakin. Anakin has a higher midi-chlorian count then Master Yoda, and supposedly has no father. He could be the "chosen one". The one born of the midi-chlorians themselves. He was freed from slavery when Qui-Gon bet Watto that if Anakin won the Boonta Eve pod race, Anakin would be set free.

When the Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Amidala, Anakin and the others arrived safely on Coruscant the Jedi Council tested Anakin, but they refused his training. Yoda senses much fear in him and that his fear stemmed from the thought of losing his mother. Qui-Gon said he would take him as his padawan but was denied since he had a padawan, Obi-Wan.

Anakin travelled with Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Amidala and the others back to Naboo. There he destroyed the droid control ship. He was a hero and Palpatine took notice of him for the first time.

Over the years, Anakin and Amidala have grown closer. They are almost a couple. They both have strong feelings for the other but are seperated from each other most of the time. Amidala is still the Queen of Naboo while Anakin is still training and living on Coruscant. Anakin and his master have become great friends but recently he has grown quite attached to another padawan, Kayla Tor. The two have become fast friends and often go to each other for comfort when daily stresses get to them.

Suggested Reading : "The Phantom Menace" novel gives more insight to young Anakin Skywalker.

Kayla Tor was brought to the Jedi Temple at a very young age. Like Obi-Wan she was trained in the Jedi Arts by the Jedi Masters. At the age of twelve Master Sah-Jen decided he saw a great potential in the young girl and took her as his padawan. The only problem Master Sah-Jen saw with Kayla was the fact she seemed to be easily led by her emotions. With great patience from her master and practice on her part Kayla learned to supress her emotions. She has recently had a set-back with regards of allowing her emotions too much control over her actions.

Kayla's thirst for knowledge of other worlds was quenched with the help of Master Qui-Gon. When Qui-Gon was in the Temple he enjoyed going to the Star Map room and would often invite Kayla to discover other worlds with him. The last time Kayla saw Master Qui-Gon was shortly before the mission to Naboo. The two of them had been in the Star Map room learning about the planet of Naboo and its inhabitants.

She is rather close to Master Sah-Jen and thinks of him as her 'father'. The two share a connection that allow each other too sense the other. Her closest friend at the temple is a young padawan by the name of Anakin Skywalker.

Kayla and her master are sent on missions when needed and she lives in the Jedi Temple along with her Master. All Jedi do not keep up permanent residence in the Temple. Some masters prefer staying in the Temple and therefore their apprentinces stay there as well.

Sah-Jen came to the Jedi Temple at the age of two. His master was Cirra Kohn. Sah-Jen wasn't too unlike young Obi-Wan or young Kayla when it came to their childhoods. He too wanted to please his master, but wasn't as headstrong as Obi-Wan and Kayla were in their youth. He excelled at the Jedi arts and was a serious man who rarely lets his emotions cloud his judgement. Master Sah-Jen has had two padawans prior to Kayla.

When Kayla was twelve, he saw a great potential in the young girl and a strange connection to her that he could not explain. This connection was similiar to the strong connection Qui-Gon felt for Obi-Wan prior to finaling accepted young Obi-Wan as his padawan on Bandomeer. This connection grew stronger throughout the years. If Kayla is in pain he can sense it, and will come running. Master Sah-Jen has never wanted to be a member of the Council, mainly because he enjoys training Jedi-to-be.

The only time Sah-Jen's emotions cloud his mind is when it comes to his young charge. Sah-Jen and Kayla's relationship is more like father and daughter then teacher and student. He is worried that her re-emerging emotional reactions will get her hurt in the process and in turn is often over-protective of her.
