Cleopatra 2525

Mind Games

This summary is from the old Studios USA website. It is written from the viewpoint of Hel:

Get this scene - inside a padded white room a woman is strapped to a chair wearing this weird contraption on her head. All you can see are a pair of bright red lips, and blood trickling from her nose. A doctor enters the room and orders the guards to remove her helmet. The guard tells the doctor that she's wearing a thought inhibitor because she can actually read other people's minds and control what they are thinking. The doctor says since there are six of them and one of her the situation is harmless. So they remove her inhibitor. Big mistake. Within seconds she breaks free, blows away all the guards, and then the doctor. She's out the door -- and headed in our direction.

So this mental hospital escapee, Raina, heads straight for the bar that Voice has told me to take the girls. But as soon as we arrive I don't hear another word from Voice. Cleo and Sarge are into the music, and go off to dance. I’m sitting alone at the bar trying to figure out what happened to Voice, and who should sit down next to me, but Raina. I’m shocked when she asks me how Voice is, and asks if Voice has abandoned me mid-mission. I pretend that I have absolutely no idea what she is talking about. Next thing I know Cleo's there but Raina's not. Cleo's totally freaked that I’ve been discussing Voice with a stranger. It turns out Raina has turned her attentions to Sarge. She gains control of Sarge’s mind and makes Sarge think that I am one of the Betrayers! As Sarge tries to process this information, something on the screen behind me catches my eye. Raina’s escape from the mental facility is breaking news. Even as they flash her picture it doesn’t really hit me that I was just sitting with her. It takes a few minutes to register in my mind. I look at Sarge and tell her that we’re in serious trouble. The problem is she doesn't believe me. Instead, she aims her gauntlet at me and is ready to fire!

I attempt to reason with her, but she's definitely convinced that I'm a Betrayer. She actually takes a shot at me! We have a little wrestling match for control, and the bar basically clears out at this point. The only one amused is Raina, as she watches this little scene unfold from the corner. I take cover, and hand over my gauntlet to Cleo, and send her to Mauser's lab to build something to control Raina's powers. Cleo makes her way out of the bar and Raina trails behind her. As soon as Raina leaves Sarge comes to her senses and realizes that I am not a Betrayer. I tell her that Voice cannot contact me if Raina can read my thoughts. Now we need to help Cleo deal with Raina. When Cleo gets to the lab Mauser shows her that he has got a mind inhibitor all ready for her. Just then Raina sneaks up on Cleo from behind. At that moment Sarge and I burst into the lab and Sarge takes aim at Raina. That prompts Voice to tell me she doesn't want Raina killed. So we start battling it out with Raina when Cleo comes from behind and pops the inhibitor right on her head. Raina lands herself back in the mental facility and we are all there for her big return. While we are there, Voice says the strangest thing - that Raina was once very much like me. What is that supposed to mean?
