- After seeing visual proof, he leads the Challenger Expedition to the mysterious Plateau in
South America to prove that dinosaurs still exist. It turns out this Plateau is no mere "zoo".
It's actually is the source of everything on Earth. It even has a Protector.
- While on the Plateau, his team and him seek shelter in a Treehouse that belongs to Veronica
Layton, a young woman whose family came to the Plateau on an expedition years ago. Veronica becomes
the team’s most trusted guide, allie, and friend.

- An orphan. Her adoptive mother never showed her much love.
- Attended plenty of boarding schools while growing up.
- Often played at the stone circle in Avebury as a little girl.
- Funds the Challenger Expedition’s journey to the Plateau for her own reasons. She seeks out half of a
mythical pendant called the Ouroboros for the shady Shanghai Xan. This pendant was hidden somewhere on the
Plateau. Xan promised her that he would exchange the half for her birth certificate, which she desperately
wants so she can learn her real name.
- A mysterious birthmark on her shoulder leads a group of Druids she meets on the Plateau to believe she is
the "Chosen One", a reincarnation of the Druid priestess Morrighan.
- Has formed a romantic relationship with Lord John Roxton.
- Fears death because she fears being alone.
- Can read over a dozen ancient languages, including some that have been extinct for thousands of years.

- A reporter for the Daily Herald Tribune in London. Was a war correspondent on the frontline during The
Great War. Later, he requested a transfer to report from the sky in a hot-air balloon, emotionally wounded by the
horrors he witnessed on the frontline. After the war, Malone went with his fellow Challenger Expedition members to the Plateau
to prove himself a man to Gladys, his love interest and publisher’s daughter.
- Falls in love with Veronica Layton. The two have an on/off relationship.
- Is “killed” at the end of the team’s second year on the Plateau. They rescue him from the Spirit World a few
weeks later. He returns with a more aggressive and careless attitude.
- Decides to depart from the Treehouse for awhile after reliving his suppressed memories from The Great War. They
make him finally realize he came to the Plateau to prove himself to himself, not to Gladys or anyone else.
Name: Veronica Layton

Major Accomplishments:
- The daughter of Thomas and Abigail Layton. Thomas was an American explorer who came to the Plateau and fell
in love with Abigail, the Protector of the mystical Plateau. This makes Veronica the next in line to be the Protector.
- When Veronica was a young girl, her father was murdered by the evil Mordren. Mordren wanted to kill Abigail
and Veronica in his wicked attempt to rule over the Plateau. Years later, Veronica avenges her father by killing Mordren.
- Her mother is still alive in Avalon, a place where the Protector safely resides.
- Has an on/off relationship with Ned Malone.
- An expert tracker.
- Unlike her friends, Veronica doesn’t use a gun in battle. She relies on her hands and feet, as well as her
trusty knife.
- Best friend is Assai, a young female member of the Zanga tribe. The Zanga are a local, friendly tribe of
natives that the Challenger Expedition often barters with.

Name: John Roxton

Major Accomplishments:
Roxton’s defining moment was a tragic one. He was on a safari with his brother, William, and their father.
Roxton scored a big trophy by shooting a great ape dead. Sadly, the bullet went straight through the ape
and into his brother. John’s father died not long ago the hunting accident occurred. While John Roxton became Lord
and sole heir to his father's massive estate, he was also scarred for life by the accident.
- In an attempt to deal with his inner turmoil, Roxton went on a journey to the Himalayas, where he spent time
with Buddhist monks.
- Roxton’s given reasons for going to the Plateau were to hunt the long-extinct creatures that inhabited
the place. In truth, he went because he was still trying to come to terms with that fatal hunting accident
from his past.
- Has developed a romantic relationship with Marguerite Krux.
- Held the rank of Major during The Great War. Ended up sacrificing his career in the military to protect a triple
agent that turned out to be Marguerite Krux.
- Has an ancestor, Captain John Roxton, that was a pirate. Captain Roxton's plunder is the reason why the
Roxton family was rich.
- As a boy, he often rode his pony, Mr. Robinson, by the stone circle in Avebury.
Name: Arthur Summerlee

Martial Status: Widower. His wife Anna died in England.
Major Accomplishments:
- Summerlee was skeptical that the Plateau was actually inhabited by dinosaurs...until he saw them with his very own
eyes. The proof led to him growing to respect Challenger, leading to the two eventually becoming friends.
- Has a grandfatherly relationship with Veronica Layton.
- A talented painter and botanist.
- Fell over the edge of a steep cliff during the team's skirmish against Drakul and his raiders. Was thought to be dead
until his apparition appeared a year and a half at the Treehouse, leading his colleagues to a conclusion that he might still
be alive.
- Challenger found a beatle that reminded him of Summerlee. He decided to name it after him. There is definitely more than
just similarities between Summerlee and Arthur the Beatle...
Name: Finn

Major Accomplishments:
- Finn is a young woman from the future. In her future, the world is destroyed by a nuclear holocaust brought about
by a demon named Zoth. Only the Plateau was able to survive, but it turned into a wasteland run by oil mongers. Finn
meets Challenger, Marguerite, and Roxton when Challenger’s transportation device mistakenly sends them into the future.
She returns with them.
- Her encounter with the demon Kayle, who is the same person she recognizes as Zoth, alerts the Challenger Expedition
to another reason they need to get off the Plateau. They now have to warn the world of what catastrophe awaits it in the
future, hopefully preventing it from happening.
- Had the same stuffed lion when she was a child that Veronica has during her youth. Is it just a chance happening? Or
is there a connection?
