Hercules: The Legendary Journeys

The Enforcer

When Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) and Iolaus (Michael Hurst) are ambushed by a gang of murdering thugs sent by Hera, the two manage to defeat their attackers in a fierce battle. Hera is furious that Nemesis (Teresa Hill) has allowed her feelings for Hercules to interfere with her orders, and punishes the beautiful goddess of divine retribution by turning her into a mortal. More determined than ever to kill her stepson, Hera creates and unleashes a deadly inhuman assassin in the shape of a breathtakingly beautiful woman known as the Enforcer (Karen Sheperd). Gnatius (Jed Brophy), a wily fellow always on the lookout for ways to make money, offers to lead the Enforcer to Hercules and soon witnesses the awesome strength and cold-blooded precision with which the assassin deals with anyone in her way. After tearing apart several patrons in a fight at a local roadhouse, she commandeers a chariot and takes off with Gnatius at breakneck speed to find Hercules. Meanwhile, Hercules and Iolaus have arrived at the annual Festival of the Harvest and are helping the locals set up their tents, tables and wares. There, Hercules is happily reunited with Nemesis, who tells him of her break with Hera and warns him of the Enforcer. Soon he receives a second warning about the deadly assassin from a drunken woman, who was present at the terrifying roadhouse melee.

Standing at the edge of a cliff a while later, Hercules tries to strike up a conversation with a beautiful woman as she approaches, not realizing she is the Enforcer. He is almost defeated in a swift and savage attack but when she charges him swinging a log, the momentum carries her over the edge of the bluff, splattering the water of her body on the rocks down below. Grateful the violent struggle is over, Hercules staggers away, unaware that the water which was the Enforcer's life blood begins to collect in tiny crevices, growing in power as it is sucked into the ocean. Soon the waters begin to stir and the Enforcer reemerges once again. Meanwhile, the Festival is in full swing and Hercules, Iolaus and Nemesis take part in a variety of contests from chicken chasing, to archery, to pie eating. After their wonderful day together, Nemesis declares her love for Hercules, much to his surprise. That night, as Hercules succumbs to her irresistable charms in a hayloft, the Enforcer arrives at the Festival and is intercepted by Iolaus, who is stunned to realize that she's still "alive." He attacks, but the Enforcer overpowers him, leaving him near death before she moves on to find Hercules.

The next morning, Iolaus stumbles into the hayloft to warn Hercules of the Enforcer's return, while the cold-blooded killer wreaks havoc in her search for him. Driven by her love for Hercules, Nemesis slips out alone. She tricks the Enforcer into entering the blacksmith's cave, but fails in her attempt to maneuver the assassin into the fiery forge. Hercules arrives just in time to save Nemesis from certain death and another epic battle ensues. Hercules fights bravely and at first, the two seem evenly matched. Over time, however, Hercules becomes exhausted, while his enemy appears strong as ever. Just when it seems he's beaten, Hercules marshalls his last bit of strength and manages to flip the Enforcer into the forge, turning her instantly into a cloud of steam and destroying her forever. Later, he bids a tender farewell to Nemesis, who realizes that she needs some time to figure out what she wants in life now that she is mortal.
