Hercules: The Legendary Journeys

Resurrection

As Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) sails the seas on Nebula's ship, a Druid leader casts a spell which causes a ferocious storm that destroys the vessel. Hercules is washed upon the shores of the island of Eire, where he is greeted by the Celts and their leader Bronagh (Alistair Browning). Bronagh reveals that they have been expecting him -- for he is the Chosen One. Bronagh explains that the Celts are the defenders of the Druid faith and that the Druid priests have summoned Hercules to Eire to lead the Celts to freedom. Bronagh leads Hercules to an underground lair where he meets Mabon (Nicko Vella). Hercules is shocked to find that this Druid leader, the keeper of Wisdom, is a 10-year-old boy. Mabon explains that they have been forced into hiding because the people have chosen to follow the Druids rather than submit to the gods of Eire. They are now being hunted by the evil demigod Morrigan (Tamara Gorski), a female assassin sent by the angry gods.

Meanwhile, Morrigan prays to the god Kernunnos (Stuart Devenie) for the strength to carry on with her quest to destroy the Druids. Kernunnos urges her to drink from a bowl which he has filled with blood. Still suffering from the death of Iolaus, Hercules refuses to help the Druids in their battle. He leaves Mabon's lair and is greeted by Morrigan. Weakened by the shipwreck, he is unable to put up a fight as Morrigan uses her god-given powers to defeat him.

Later, Mabon leads a recuperated Hercules into the forest. He puts Hercules through a series of exercises to help him find Illumination, the power to harness the energy that flows through the land. After Hercules completes the tests, Mabon sends him into a cave where he is startled to find Iolaus. Hercules tells Iolaus how he wishes he had a second chance to save him and suddenly, the two are back in Gilgamesh's temple. Events unfold differently and Hercules takes the dagger in the heart. Suddenly, Hercules is back in the cave being cradled by Iolaus, who asks his friend to forgive himself. Iolaus tells Hercules that he needs to forgive himself, not ask for forgiveness. As Hercules faces his fears inside the cave, Morrigan captures Mabon.

When Hercules emerges from the cave, he is surrounded by Morrigan's guards. He quickly dispatches the thugs and begins searching for Mabon. Meanwhile, Morrigan and Mabon make their way through the forest, searching for the rest of the Druids. Strangely, at Morrigan's request, Mabon causes the Temple of Virtue to materialize. She enters to find the Druids gathered inside near a dying Druid leader. Relishing the moment, Morrigan plunges her sword into his heart. As she impales the leader, an strange energy flows into her body. She learns that to kill a Druid is to take his place. Morrigan has now become the guardian of Justice. Suddenly, Hercules bursts into the temple and he and Morrigan battle. Since he is once again at peace with himself, Hercules uses the power of Illumination to defeat Morrigan. As the fight ends, a beam from the temple lands on Morrigan, knocking her unconscious. Mabon warns that when Morrigan dies, the spirit of Justice dies with her. Mabon and the Druids disappear in the forest, leaving Hercules to tend to Morrigan.
