Having temporarily immobilized Dahak (Michael Hurst), Hercules (Kevin Sorbo), Morrigan (Tamara Gorski), Nebula (Gina Torres), Jason (Jeffrey Thomas) and Zarathustra (George Henare) frantically prepare Dahak's fortress for the exorcism. Hoping to break the spirit of the group, Dahak enters Jason's mind causing him to believe that something is alive under the skin in his arm. Jason gashes his arm trying to release the spirit before he realizes that Dahak is causing an illusion. Hercules sends him away to tend to his wound. Suddenly the altar starts to rise and Iolaus (Michael Hurst) begins speaking in tongues. Meanwhile, at one of Dahak's temples, one of Dahak's warriors begins to chant the same words. Zarathustra translates the chant and realizes that Dahak is telling his warriors to find and destroy Ares (Kevin Smith), the god who was once his allie. Once Ares is dead, Dahak will become strong enough to break his bonds. Hercules sends Morrigan and Nebula out to search for Ares, as he and Zarathustra begin the exorcism.
Dahak persists with his taunts and Zarathustra becomes overwhelmed. He leaves the fortress to regain his composure and sees his dead son, who changes into a demon and attacks him. Hercules attempts to help Zarathustra realize that he is hallucinating An invisible force drags Zarathustra up a wall and pins him to the ceiling. Hercules forces Dahak to let him go, but it's too late. Dahak has revoked his spell of immortality and the one man who knows how to perform the exorcism dies. Meanwhile, Morrigan and Nebula find Ares in his temple. Soon after, a group of Dahak's warriors arrive. Knowing that they are outnumbered, the trio escapes. Later, as they rest in seclusion, Ares vows to destroy Dahak even though Nebula and Morrigan warn him not to interfere with Hercules' plan. Back at the fortress, Dahak shows Hercules how he seduced Iolaus into allowing him to use his body. At the moment of his death, Iolaus is greeted by Dahak in the form of his father Skouras (Bruce Allpress). He then appears to him as the beautiful Nebula. Finally, he takes the form of Hercules. Dahak tells Iolaus that if he is remembered at all it will be as a man who lived in the shadow of a greater hero. Hercules tells Dahak that he lied to his friend and that he could not imagine his life without Iolaus. Suddenly, a scar on Iolaus' chest opens up and a spectral hand reaches out.
As Hercules reaches to grab the hand, Dahak screams and the ghostly hand is sucked back into the chest wound. Reasserting control on his body, Dahak continues his story. Dahak, still in the form of Hercules, tells Iolaus that if they joined, he would have all the power to accomplish everything he wanted in life, and more. He tells Iolaus that together they could use Dahak's power to set things right in the world. Weary and disillusioned, Iolaus cannot resist any longer and takes Dahak's hand. As Dahak finishes the story, Ares creates a diversion in the nearby village and leaves Morrigan and Nebula. He enters Dahak's fortress and is slammed against a wall by an invisible force. As he clutches his throat, Dahak regains his strength and the chains holding him to the altar begin to loosen. Ouside, the sun begins to set as Morrigan and Nebula burst into the temple. Realizing that time is running out, Hercules punches into Iolaus' chest wound and is sucked into the spiritual world. Hercules finds Iolaus, the real Iolaus, standing on a rugged cliffside. Suddenly, the dark and monstrous true form of Dahak appears and the two friends fight side-by-side on last time. During the struggle, they manage to push Dahak over the cliff into a fiery chasm. As Hercules and Iolaus say one last goodbye, a shaft of light shines down from the sky and Zarathustra appears to take Iolaus into the light. Hercules watches as Iolaus disappears and wakes up in Morrigan's arms.
