Having fulfilled the prophecy of killing his father and marrying his mother, Oedipus (Mick Rose), now blind, is haunted by the ghost of his wife Jocasta (Elizabeth Hawthorne), who killed herself. She informs him that as long as Creon (Stelios Yiakmis) remains king, Oedipus will be cursed and Thebes will be destroyed. Antigone must take the throne to save them. When Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) arrives in Thebes, he is shocked to learn that Creon has wrested the throne from Oedipus and has executed Oedipus' son, Polynices, whose body remains hanging outside the city's gates. While questioning a guard, Hercules spies Oedipus on the edge of the palace roof and manages to grab his sleeve just as he's falling and pull him to safety. After speaking with Oedipus, Hercules runs into Princess Antigone (Paige Moss), Oedipus' daughter, who is fleeing from soldiers she provoked. When Creon and his guards catch up with them, Hercules makes his dislike of the new king known. The bold and brash Antigone starts her routine drinking and it's up to Hercules to try to restore her confidence. Even after he returns the drunken Antigone to the palace, she goes out again in search of more mischief -- this time a chariot race along the bluffs. Once again, Hercules heroically saves the day by rescuing her moments before her chariot goes over a cliff. Suicide, it seems, runs in the family.
Meanwhile, Creon and his Defense Minister (Mark Clare) are working on a new deadly weapon which they plan to use on the rebels, Oedipus and Hercules. When Hercules and Antigone return to the town square, a bound prisoner, Tiros (Tony MacIver), is about to be executed. A fight ensues during which Hercules frees Tiros, whom he sends to join the rebellion. Creon lets it slip that Oedipus may be dead and Hercules rushes to save him from food poisoning. Luckily, Oedipus has only eaten a few bites and Antigone leads them out of the palace to the rebel camp in the woods. Creon is outraged at their escape, but softens when he learns that his weapon, an early version of a bomb, is ready.
Back in the woods, Antigone decides that she must give her brother a decent burial. Hercules and the rebels join in her mission and easily take out most of the soldiers until a firebomb explodes nearby. The group retreats to the camp, but it's too late. The soldiers have already found it. In the midst of all the pandemonium, Antigone sneaks away to bury her brother only to be captured by Creon and his men. As Hercules rushes to save Antigone, her warning is stifled and he steps on a concealed firebomb that explodes.
Tiros and the rebels catch up with him, slowly making their way across the minefield by using rocks to set them off one by one. Meanwhile, in the town square, Antigone is about to be executed. Sensing that he has no time to lose, Hercules decides to make a run for it and races through the minefield, setting off firebombs as he goes. He arrives just in time to save Antigone from the axe. When the rebels arrive and join in the battle, Creon flees for his life into the field where his own weapon blows him up. Antigone buries her brother, reunites with her father and takes her rightful position as Queen of Thebes.
