This summary is from the old Studios USA site. It was written from the viewpoint of Emilia Rothschild:
Jack's been a little busy with his swordplay this week, so I'm filling in for him...I am now convinced nothing is normal about my time spent with Jack. Governor Croque's dinner party revealed our host had stolen an American shipment of gold, and that a young servant was determined to assassinate him. Just when the girl pulled the trigger, Jack jumped in between the gun and the governor, and took a bullet in the chest.
But then we all realized Jack was alive - he had a tray under his vest! (Too much time in my laboratory some might say...) I'm glad he's alive - but of course would never tell him that.
After speaking with the young would-be-murderess we found out her tale of woe...genuine woe. The governor had thrown Annie's parents in jail for failing to pay their taxes. I was determined to convince Jack to help me take back the money the Governor had stolen and use it to help innocent girls like Annie. Jack would hear none of it, and naturally, I was never more infuriated. He was determined to return all of it to the U.S. I imagined myself grabbing Annie's pistol and shooting the man myself.
Later, Jack disguised himself as the Dragoon and attempted to use my invention - my bouncing cord (quite ingenious actually). He attempted to "bounce" off a bridge and retrieve the gold. He fouled up our mission, though, and we had to go to the Governor's home to complete it. Luckily, another invention of mine came in handy - a tool by which I can actually break into the most complicated of security systems (again - ingenious, if I may say so) And it actually worked - but set off some prehistoric alarm system, consisting of what seemed to be a waterfall of coins...(I was making such contraptions in my laboratory when I was 7!) I escaped down a hatch, head-first, and Jack once again stayed behind battling that miscreant Borgard. I do declare, when it comes to brawn, Jack has been coming through. (It's just a good thing my intellect is around.)
Luckily, Jack outwitted his would-be captors, and retrieved the gold. (I think we're running out of lives - we must be on our tenth...) And then the most amazing thing happened! Annie emerged the next morning with her parents! Jack had used some of the gold to pay off their debts. Epiphany of epiphanies - Jack seems to have a moral compass after all!
