Smallville

Covenant

A mysterious girl named Kara shows up at the Kent's farm claming to be Kara, from Krypton. She knows all about Clark and tells him if he follows her to the caves, all his questions will be answered and she will take him home. When the two talk alone outside, she tells him he's meant for great things. He still doesn't believe she is who she says she is, so she grabs his arm and they begin to levitate above the barn. "I can't fly," Clark says.... "Not yet," Kara replies. The two make their way to the caves, where Kara speaks of Jor-El and claims he's not the monster Clark thinks he is. She tries to get Clark to follow her into a fissure in the cave wall. Clark refuses and she tells him she'll be waiting when he's ready.

Lex shows up at the farm. He talks to Clark about his father's incarceration. He says that unless they get an eyewitness to Lionel's wrong doings, he'll be free within 48 hours. Clark hesitantly tells Lex he saw Lionel give the order to give Lex electroshock. Lex asks why he hasn't told him this sooner; Clark insists he kept his silence to save Lex's life. Lex tells Clark he's a good friend. When he goes to see his father, Lionel tells him he's dying from liver failure. Lex doesn't buy it, but later he and Chloe look over the medical reports that confirm what he was told. Chloe says she'll understand if Lex doesn't go through with putting his father in jail. Lex coldly says he'll push through with the prosecution and despite being scared of what Lionel may try to do to her; Chloe agrees to push forward too.

The Kents discuss Kara in the house. As Jonathan says she isn't to be trusted she appears before them and demands he reveal the pact he made with Jor-El. Hesitantly, Jonathan tells Martha and Clark that he promised Jor-El he'd return Clark to him someday if he granted him the powers to bring him back from Metropolis. Martha is furious with Jonathan for making his pact with Jor-El without talking to her. She fears they'll have no choice but to surrender Clark. Desperate for answers, Jonathan takes a teacup, used by Kara to Chloe and asks her to run the prints.

Lana asks Clark to drive her to the airport as she prepares to leave for Paris. She also says that if Clark has anything important to tell her, he should say it before she leaves. When she notices Kara standing in a field, Clark mutters she's his cousin from California and he'll talk to her tomorrow in the car.

Clark receives a package from Lionel, inside is a silver key. He goes to ask Lionel what it is and he tells him it opens a door in the mansion that will enlighten Clark. Despite being skeptical, Clark goes to the mansion and enters the room. In it he finds a room full of items from his past. Bullets that hit him, computer screens with his pictures on it and a chunk of kryptonite. As Clark moves uneasy towards the door he runs into Lex, who tells him not to jump to conclusions. He's just trying to figure out his own past and has been intrigued by Clark's mysteries. An angry Clark tells him he's just like his father and storms out.

Clark forgets to pick up Lana and runs to meet her at the airport. To his dismay, Lex is already there and he watches as Lex tells Lana she's a great friend and he plans to visit her in Paris, the two hug and Clark drops the rose he was going to give her. Lana caught a glimpse of Clark, but by the time she gets to where he was standing, all that remains is the rose. Clark shows up at the courthouse at the last minute and his testimony is enough to deny Lionel bail. Lex tries to apologize for what happened in the mansion, but Clark turns to him and tells him their friendship is over.

Clark confides in Kara that she was right and he heads with her to the caves. Chloe finds Jonathan, who's looking for Clark, and tells him she has the results of the fingerprints. Jonathan makes it to the cave just in time to stop Clark from walking through the fissure with Kara. He tells Clark the girl's name isn't Kara, but Lindsay, a girl who was arrested for shoplifting 16-years ago. A meteor hit the car she was in during the shower and her body was never found. Jonathan tells her Jor-El has used her and with that, Jor-El's voice is heard commanding Clark to enter the fissure with Kara/Lindsey. Clark refuses and the girl disappears. Then, Jor-El begins to kill Jonathan with a fiery rope. He tells Clark, Jonathan will die if he doesn't enter the fissure. Despite, Jonathan's pleading, Clark enters and is gone.

As Lionel plots in prison, Chloe and her dad are put in witness relocation, as they enter their house, Chloe goes to open a door within, triggering a bomb that destroys the house! Lex takes a drink, which poisons him and he, collapses. Martha watches as a huge fire begins to consume the fields around the farm and Jonathan lies unconscious in the caves. Clark is alone in a smoke filled room; Jor-El's voice promises him he shall be reborn.
