After saving a couple from being carjacked by a pierced thug and his accomplice, Oliver Queen (a.k.a. Green Arrow) is shot by the pierced thug. Though Queen manages to survive, it is only because he has been taking a liquid drug called RO65. While this drug makes Queen invulnerable to pain, it’s addictive with violent side effects. Queen’s addiction isn’t his only problem. During his rescue of the couple, Queen was on a date with Lois. Lois was in the process of removing her clothing so the two could spend the night together in bed when Queen left to make the save. Since she doesn’t know his reason for leaving her without notice, Lois thinks Oliver has played her. As far as Lois is concerned their relationship is over. Elsewhere, Lana approaches Lex about her plan to work at Second Chance, a halfway house. She is greatly hurt when he immediately shoots her idea down. Suspicious of Lex as of late, Lana asks Chloe to look into Second Chance for her. Lana suddenly faints during the young women’s conversation. When she recovers, Lana can’t even remember what had just taken place.
Clark pays Oliver Queen a visit in Metropolis when Lois tells him that she read an article in the Daily Planet that stated the Green Arrow was shot. He is surprised to find Queen alive without even a minor wound. After the two get in an argument, Clark uses his x-ray vision, spotting Queen injecting himself with a dose of RO65. Meanwhile, Lionel rejects Martha Kent’s invitation to the Thanksgiving dinner she is hosting at the Kent farm, stating it would make Clark feel uncomfortable. A near-kiss between the two leads to Lionel making a sudden departure. Later on, Martha visits Lionel at LuthorCorp to state that it’s obvious the two have feelings for each another. While right now she doesn’t want to explore her feelings for him any further, she still wants him to come to the Thanksgiving dinner since he is a big part of her life.
During the night, Oliver tracks down the pierced thug that shot him. Before he can shot the thug dead with an arrow, the pierced thug makes a suicidal leap off the roof they are on. Much to Oliver’s surprise, the pierced thug pops right back up after he falls, soon revealing that he has been given RO65 by Pamela Black, the doctor who produced this drug for Queen Industries. Unbeknownst to Queen, Dr. Black has taken a payoff from Lex Luthor, providing him with vials of this experimental drug to give to various residents of Second Chance. Not taking a liking to the fact that RO65 is hurting people, Dr. Black is in the process of shutting down the experiment. When Lex confronts Dr. Black about her plans, he makes it clear she won’t be doing such a thing.
Clark brings Chloe a sample of RO65 that he managed to steal from Oliver’s loft. Chloe is able to trace RO65 back to Dr. Black, only to discover her dead body when Clark and her pay Dr. Black a visit at her lab. Further investigation of the lab leads Chloe and Clark to discover that Black had been working with Lex to supply people at Second Chance with RO65. Suspecting that Oliver will go after Lex next, Clark goes to his mansion to find him, only to find Lana there alone. Noticing she is depressed, Clark tries to get her to open up to him. After Lana assures Clark that Lex is not the reason she is upset, he leaves at her request. Meanwhile, Queen and Lex have crossed paths at LuthorCorp. After Lex refuses to give the money he has made wrongfully from his Second Chance experiment to several charity organizations, he is shot by one of Queen’s poison arrows. Unable to play executioner, Clark uses some of the RO65 to save Lex, despite Queen urging him not to save Lex.
Though the next day the Daily Planet reports that the pierced thug was responsible for Dr. Black’s death, both Clark and Chloe suspect Lex is behind that blame. When he pays him a visit at his loft on Thanksgiving afternoon, Queen reveals to Clark that he created the RO65 since he wanted to be invulnerable like Clark in his quest to right wrongs, but since Clark has helped him realize he can’t be a murderer, he has decided to stop taking RO65. That same day Lana pays Chloe a visit at the Talon. Chloe assumes it’s to learn what she has found out about Second Chance, most notably Lex’s involvement. Lana refuses to speak about the halfway house and Lex, instead revealing to Chloe that she is pregnant.
Thanksgiving dinner at the Kent farm is a joyous occasion for Clark, Martha, Chloe, Lionel, Oliver, and Lois. Lois and Oliver have made up. Since he is back home for the holidays, Jimmy sends Chloe a text message in which he states that he misses her. Clark expresses how grateful he is for the fact that his mother and late father taught him to have faith in himself. On the contrary, Thanksgiving dinner at Lex’s mansion is anything but joyous as Lana’s pregnancy has sunk her into a depressed state.
