Smallville

Freak

The same night Chloe takes Lana out bowling, she witnesses several men driving a black van kidnap a young man she suspects is a meteor freak. The next day, while observing a photograph that she took of Lana and her at the bowling ally, Chloe notices that Tobias Rice, a young man who lost his sight the day of the second meteor shower, was also at the bowling ally. At Lex’s mansion, Lana is talking to Lex when Dr. Bethany, Rice’s personal physician, pays Lex a visit. After Lana takes her leave, Bethany and Lex discuss Lex’s promise to Bethany to get Rice a cornea transfer if he uses his powers, which allow him to find other meteor freaks, to help Lex snatch up more meteor freaks for his Level 33.1 experiments.

Chloe suspects that Rice has the power to locate other meteor freaks. When Chloe and Clark pay him a visit, Clark uses his super hearing to overhear a conversation Rice is having on the phone with Bethany about there being a meteor freak in his presence. Clark suspects that Chloe is a meteor freak. After seeing Bethany at the mansion and learning that Chloe and Clark paid Rice a visit, Lana decides to do her own digging into the situation in order to protect Clark, who she suspects is meteor infected, from being exposed. She pays Rice a visit, promising to get him a cornea transplant with no strings attached if he doesn’t reveal that Clark is a meteor freak. Rice informs Lana that Clark isn’t a meteor freak.

Clark goes to Smallville Medical Center and steals Bethany’s laptop. That same day, Chloe is abducted from her apartment by the same men who took the young man at the bowling ally. A GPS device is planted inside her at a Level 33.1 laboratory. The next morning, just as Jimmy and Clark prepare to look for their friend, she pops up at The Talon with no recollection of being abducted. Meanwhile, Bethany informs Lex about the theft of his laptop, though he doesn’t know it was Clark who took it. Lex tells Bethany that their deal is off. He demands that Bethany bring Rice to him and all the meteor freaks who were implanted with GPS devices be killed off rather than be observed like Lex had originally planned.

Chloe hacks into Bethany’s computer and discovers a map of Smallville with green dots representing meteor freaks. One of them is located in the same room she is in. Chloe knows that she is a meteor freak. When the green dots start turning red, Chloe suspects that the abductors are now killing off all the meteor freaks they earlier abducted. Clark has to use his heat vision to burn the GPS device that was planted in Chloe. At Tobias Rice’s house, Lana tells Rice that she still wants to help him. Bethany shows up and tries to abduct Tobias and kill Lana. Clark saves his friends.

In the end, Clark contacts Oliver Queen and arranges for Tobias to get a cornea transplant. Even though she believes he isn’t a meteor freak, Lana’s suspicions that Clark might not be normal remain. Clark tells Chloe that she might not actually be meteor infected since she hasn’t shown any sign of having a specific power. Chloe reminds Clark that most meteor freaks didn’t develop powers until later on. Clark promises to help his friend through this rough time. Lex plans to keep a close watch on Chloe after he learns she was among the ones planted with a GPS device.
