Smallville

Progeny

When Chloe was a little girl, her mother had herself committed to a mental institution so she wouldn’t use her meteor powers, which allow her to control her daughter, to hurt her. Many years later, Moira Sullivan uses her powers to communicate with her daughter, forcing Chloe to attack Lex and steal a flash disc containing information about her whereabouts. Lex is aware of Moira’s powers and wants her to control other meteor freaks. He has taken her from the asylum she was at in a catatonic state and waken her up using an experimental drug. After she refuses to help Lex, he falsely promises to reunite her with Chloe if she’ll help him.

The morning after she attacks Lex and steals the disc, Chloe wakes up with no memory of her nightly exploit. After Clark and her come across the scene of the attack, Clark discovers Chloe’s missing button in Lex’s car. Chloe knows that she attacked Lex. Later, Chloe learns from the information on the disc that her mother is a meteor freak who can control other meteor freaks. Clark and her go to talk to Lex. Meanwhile, Lex asks Moira to use her powers to return a Level 33.1 escapee to his lab. Moira uses her powers on him, but she tells him to murder Lex. The escapee goes to the mansion and looks for Lex. Lex is gone and Lana is there. Lana is attacked. Moments later, Clark arrives and knocks out the meteor freak. While Chloe sequesters him for information about her mother’s whereabouts, certain that she sent him to kill Lex, Clark takes Lana to the Smallville Medical Center. When Lex discovers that Moira duped him, he threatens to kill Chloe.

In the hospital, Lana tells Clark that she is no longer pregnant. Later on, Lana’s new doctor informs her that the tests he did on her prove that she was never actually pregnant. At the Kent farm, Chloe gets another message from her mother asking her to leave town for her own safety. Chloe tries to leave but is caught by two of Lex’s security guards. She is taken to a secret lab on an old farm where she happily reunites with her mother, but also discovers that Lex tricked Moira into thinking he was going to kill her daughter so she would warn her daughter to leave town, and in the process when she tried to leave his security would catch her. Chloe and her mother form an escape plan. Moira uses her powers on a fellow inmate, who fights off the lab guards while the two women make their way out of the facility. Just as they appear to be home free, Lex shows up. Chloe fires a shot at him at her mother’s beckon. Clark arrives just in time to stop the bullet from striking Lex dead.

In the end, Chloe is forced to bid a sad farewell to her mother, who returns to her previous catatonic state without the drug Lex revived her with. But before she returns to her previous state, Clark tells Moira about Chloe. Moira tells Clark to tell Chloe that she is very proud of her. Chloe plans to expose Lex to the world in her latest article, but Lex blackmails her into ceasing its publication by threatening to have her taken to a Level 33.1 lab if she does. After Chloe tells Clark about Lex’s threat, the burning fire that has been inside him ever since Lana married Lex heats up even more. At Chloe’s request, Clark won’t take action against Lex until they know Lana is safe, but once that happens he is certain the brewing war between Lex and him will begin.
