Smallville

Action

The “Warrior Angel” film crew are shooting a scene at the Kent farm where the lead actress Rachel Davenport, who is portraying the heroes’ girlfriend, is driving a car. After the director tells Rachel the scene is finished she puts her foot on the break to stop the car. Something is wrong because the car won’t stop. Sensing that Rachel is in trouble, Clark makes a heroic rescue as the car topples over and explodes. The next day Chloe informs both Clark and Rachel that the car Rachel was driving had been sabotaged. Meanwhile, Grant Gabriel asks Lois to go to Smallville and cover the filming of “Warrior Angel”. Though Lois agrees to look into that story, she really intends to investigate LuthorCorp’s purchase of a small piece of land with nothing but a cabin on it near where Lex had his Reeves Dam Level 33.1 laboratory.

Lionel Luthor wakes up for the first time since the incident at Reeves Dam, finding himself the captor of a woman named Marilyn, who immediately calls her employer, Lana, to let her know that Lionel has woken up. Meanwhile, Clark finds out that there is a group of unhappy Warrior Angel fans that disagree with the creative license the filmmakers are taking by not killing off Rachel’s character like in the comics. One particular post by a fan named Devilicus Rebel with a specific quote from issue five of the comic series might hold a clue to who tried to kill Rachel. Aware of the fact that Lex is an expert when it comes to the Warrior Angel comics, Clark asks him for his help. Though Lex hasn’t been a fan of Warrior Angel since Clark and him were friends, he agrees to help Clark. Lex explains that the quote is from the issue where Warrior Angel’s girlfriend is killed by his rival, Devilicus Rebel, leading Angel to put love behind him and accept his destiny as a superhero.

During the filming of the scene Lex explained to Clark, the film’s production assistant Ben loads the prop gun the actor playing Devilicus uses to shoot Rachel’s character with a real bullet. Clark uses his x-ray vision and notices that a real bullet is being fired. Though he is able to catch the bullet in time without alarming the actors or the film crew, Ben sees him with the bullet in his hand and suspects that Clark is a real life superhero. Meanwhile, Lois sneaks into Lex’s office at LuthorCorp to try and find out more about the land LuthorCorp has purchased near Reeves Dam. Lex catches her in the act, though is surprised when he finds out that a Luthor has purchased the land near Reeves Dam. Lex goes to the cabin and finds his father tied to a bed. Marilyn tries to stop Lex and Lionel from getting away, only to be killed so gruesomely by Lionel that even Lex is surprised by his father’s malice.

Clark discovers that Ben is behind the attempts on Rachel’s life, and that he also intends to kill Lana, so that like Warrior Angel in the comics, Clark will realize he has a greater purpose in life. Ben finds Lana at Oliver Queen’s loft, where Clark instructed her to hide Rachel until he could track down her attacker. Though Ben succeeds in throwing Lana off the top of the building, Clark is able to save her in a truly heroic moment.

In the end, Lana finds out that Lionel knows she was the one who held him against his will at the cabin. Though Lana insists she did what she did to protect Clark, Lionel is certain that she only did it out of revenge. Before leaving town, Rachel gives Clark a goodbye present in the form of a Warrior Angel cape from the shooting of the movie. Lana tells Clark that she realizes he has a destiny greater than their relationship, and when the time comes for him to fulfill it she doesn’t want to keep him from it. Though Clark has questioned his destiny a lot lately, he assures Lana that for the first time in his life he has everything he wants and won’t leave her.
