Hercules, Iolaus, Jason, and Lilith go to Alcmene's house to celebrate the feast of Persephone. The demigod is shocked to see that his mother has a suitor named Capaneus. Though Alcmene's new man tries to be hospitable to Hercules, the demigod is hardly that in return. Hoping that the two might warm up to each other if they have a common goal, Alcmene decides to have them hunt a boar for the feast she is preparing. Meanwhile, Jason teaches Iolaus about several traditions associated with the feast of Persephone since Iolaus isn't much of a holiday person due to his parents never being around for any of them.
Instead of working together to catch a boar, Hercules and Capaneus spend most of the hunt bickering. They finally give up as night is approaching and the boar has retreated too far into the woods. Despite all their bickering, they can now agree on at least one thing: Alcmene will not be pleased with either of them for returning empty-handed. When arriving back at Alcmene's house, the two are shocked to learn that Alcmene and Lilith ended up hunting down the boar, expecting them to not succeed in getting it. Later, Hercules decides to accept Capaneus. Everyone sits down and enjoys a bountiful feast. After dinner, Capaenus sleeps in the barn with the guys to assure Hercules that he won't take advantage of his mother. In the morning, Hercules discovers Capaenus is gone. His mother informs him that Capaenus decided to leave for awhile since she told him she wasn't ready for a serious relationship.
