Proaax, the cousin of the ruler of the neighboring kingdom, comes to Corinth to hire the assassin known as Buterus. Proaax wants him to kill Jason so he can become King of Corinth. Since it's “prank week” at Cheiron's Academy, Buterus has an easy time disguising his assassination attempts. Unfortunately, for him, all the attempts fail since Jason is expecting pranks to be played on him, therefore is very careful in everything he does.
When Hercules becomes suspicions of Buterus, he warns Jason, who in turn thinks his friend is talking nonsense. When Hercules saves Jason from an arrow, he finally realizes someone isn't playing "fun" pranks, but some very deadly ones. Hercules and friends catch Buterus in the act as he tries another assassination attempt that evening. Buterus and Proaax are arrested. Later, the cadets finally pull one over on Jason.
