Young Hercules

The Prize

Ares decides to "mix with mortals" in a talent competition at Kora's inn. His reasons for doing so are to get his hands on a missing piece of the Chronos stone that is part of the prize basket the finalist will receive. If he can get his hands on that piece, Ares will have the complete Chronos stone in his possession, allowing him to channel powers beyond those of any god. He could supplant Zeus, which would allow him to finally kill Hercules.

The god of war does his best Elvis impersonation. The crowd is impressed. When Hercules realizes exactly why Ares has entered the competition, he decides that Iolaus and him have to put together an act so they can get their hands on the Chronos stone. Despite his anxiety, Iolaus agrees to sing while Hercules plays the lyre. They round up several other cadets to play the other instruments. The cadet band ends up getting a rousing ovation.

The result ends up being a tie between Hercules' band and Ares. The god of war gets very angry when he learns that they must share the prize basket. Hercules gets the others to safety as Ares trashes the stage. The demigod also manages to get the piece of the Chronos stone, which he then throws into the depths of the nearby lake -- where not even a god will be able to find it.
