Larry B's 2002 NBA Draft Awards

Slippery Slider Award

  1. Qyntel Woods-He falls all the way to 21 from possibly consideration as high as #5.
  2. Caron Butler-Letting him slide will haunt at least 6 or 7 teams, just like Paul Pierce.
  3. Curtis Borchardt-Orlando couldn't pass on him, like lotsa other teams needing a center did. I guess its not in vogue to draft a big stiff anymore.
  4. Carlos Boozer-shock that he not only fell to the second round, but below Archibald and Yarbrough.
  5. Dan Dickau-How did he get past all those teams that needed a PG?
  6. Lazaros Papadopoulos-In the year of the foreign prospect, a possible first rounder doesn't get picked, but neither did...
Fatih Solak-I guess its not even in vogue to draft a foreign big stiff.
  7. William "Smush" Parker-Just cuz you think you're da bomb doesn't make you da bomb. I'm surprised he wasn't picked though.
  8. Pedrag Savocic-Who had him going to Detroit at #23...shame on you.
  9. Kareem Rush-Although he was still picked in a respectable range, he was a lottery pick a few months ago.
  10. Darius Songaila-All indications were pointing to his stock rising not falling.

Winners

  1. Miami-Dang, they stole Caron Butler all the way to the bank...er I mean playoffs.
  2. Houston Rockets-They got exactly what they wanted in Ming, Nachbar and even a steal in Tito Maddox.
  3. Fred Jones-hoo-yah big time guaranteed money.
  4. Ryan Humphrey-I wish I could get that much money for having a few good days in Chicago.
  5. Chicago-Jay Williams, Roger Mason Jr. and Lonny Baxter could all not only make their team but play...then there's the little bit with the front runner for ROY.
  6. The Wiz-They picked up a lot of talent in Jeffries, Juan Dixon (yes I do like him), Rod Grizzard and Juan Carlos Navarro.
  7. Utah-If its true, they just robbed the Magic blind getting Borchardt for nothing (aka Humphrey)...throw in Jamal Sampson.
  8. Golden State-They added a lot of talent in Dunleavy and Jiri Welsch, and just for fun threw in Steve Logan.
  9. Portland-I didn't realize that they had a lottery pick?
  10. Atlanta-They came away with Dan Dickau and David Andersen without having any real aspirations to help their team that much.

Losers

  1. Orlando-They came away with Ryan Humphrey, while they were going in looking for a PG or at least a big body...hmmmmm
  2. Indiana-They coulda shoulda traded down for Fred Jones. (Don't get me wrong I still think he's a good player, just not that good.)
  3. Qyntel Woods-poster boy for "Don't do drugs".
  4. Milwaukee-I think they overlooked better prospects and wasted their picks in Haislip and Gadzuric, Ronald Murray and Chris Owens.
  5. Carlos Boozer-He left school early and didn't get the guaranteed money.
  6. Kei Madison and Smush Parker and deAngelo Collins and Lenny Cook-They left school and didn't get any money.
  7. Udonis Haslem-shouda been drafted.
  8. New York-Not sure yet about the trade, but I am sure that Milos Vujanic in the second round was highly unpopular.
  9. Lazaros Papadopoulos and Fatih Solak-You tell them that this was the year of the International Player.
  10. (You'll get the 10th loser when its not 12:30 in the morning and I can either a>think clearly or b>type anymore).
