Sean Elliott

Sean Elliott has had a difficult career. He has been unloaded by the Spurs, and picked up by them again. He can shoot, though, and he is the Spurs all-time leader in 3 point field goals made and attempted. He can look unstoppable at times, evidenced by being a 2-time all-star (1993 & 1996), but other times he looks like the rawest of rookies. He ended his college career as the all-time leading scorer in Pac-Ten history. As a senior he won the John Wooden Award for Player of the Year leading to his selection at number three by the Spurs in the 1989 draft. In 1996, this two-time Pac-Ten Player of the Year became the first player in University of Arizona history to have his number retired. As a rookie he started 70 games and was named to the All-Rookie Second Team. Sean was married to Akiko Herron by then teammate Terry Cummings, who is an ordained minister. Sean underwent a succesful kidney transplant, which was donated from his brother. He recovered during the 1999-2000 season returned to basketball the following year, but he retired following that season.
