After being
named a Second Team All-American (NABC), Third Team All-American (AP) and
All-Big Ten in 1994 following his junior year at Michigan where he
averaged 20.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, Juwan Howard declared for
the draft and was promptly picked at #5 by Washington. At Michigan he was
part of the fab five with teammates Jalen Rose and Chris Webber that made
two appearance in the NCAA Championship game (losing to both Duke and
UNC). Howard joined draft class alums Jason Kidd
and Grant Hill as an all-star in 1996. This 6-9,
240 pound forward put up an impressive sophomore campaign as an encore to
his All-Rookie Second Team showing in 1995. He was third among rookies in
scoring and led all rookies in rebounding (sounds like first team material
to me).
