Reggie Miller is the
best pure shooter in his 1987 draft class, and perhaps in the league. His
deadeye shot is evidenced in his NBA record 9 consecutive 100+ 3 point fg
years (and running). He has racked up 17,400 career points thru 1998. He
is a 4 time All-Star (1990, 1995, 1996 and 1998), and an All-NBA first
Team Trash Talker. Reggie started the AS Game in 1995, being the First
Pacer ever to start. He has been in the three-point shootout five
times, being the runner up twice, in 1992 and 1995. He was also
three times named to the All-NBA third team (1995, 1996 and 1998). He
has a single game career high of 57 points, which he scored against the
Hornets on November 28, 1992. He is the Pacer's career leader in
points, FGs made and attempted, FTs made and attempted, three-pointers
made and attempted and he's second in assists and steals.
Reggie comes
from a family of talent...his sister Cheryl won a gold medal for the
women's olympic team. His brother Darrell was an outfielder for the
Angels of Baseball in the mid-eighties. He has come on strong in the NBA
Playoffs, almost single-handedly finishing off the Knicks in 1995. He
also nailed them in 1994, hitting 5 three-pointers in a
quarter against the Knicks on 6/1/94, for a playoff record for most in a
quarter. During the summer of '96 Reggie was found Trash Talking with
Sir Charles on Dream Team III, being only one of two players from Dream
Team II to be on the team (the other was Shaquille O'Neal). Reggie is not
only a trash talker on the court, but he can also carry his own weight
with reporters, being named to the All-Interview Second Team in 1997-98.
Miller was a member of the All-Rookie Second Team in 1988. Reggie
signed a 4 year deal with the Pacers in 1996 paying him 36 million
dollars. Indiana re-signed Reggie Miller to a 3 year, $36 million
contract on August 9, 2000. On August 20, 2003 Miller re-signed with the Pacers on a two year contract.
