Glenn
Robinson, drafted by Milwaukee, demonstrates the depth of this
draft. The number one pick was eclipsed by 3 other superstars (Grant Hill, Juwan Howard
and Jason Kidd). Yet, Robinson still puts up very
impressive numbers. He was a member of the NBA All-Rookie First Team,
leading all rookies in scoring. He helped the Bucks win 14 games over the
previous season after leading the team in scoring. Only Kareem scored
more points as a rookie for the Bucks. Glenn played in the
All-Star Weekend rookie game, doing what he does best, scoring 21
points. The 1994 College Player of the Year was drafted after his junior
year in college. A 1994 Unanimous First Team All-American and a Consensus
Second Team All-American in 1993, he led the nation is scoring in 1993-94
with a 30.3 ppg average. Robinson was the first Purdue player to ever
accumulate 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 100 assists, 100 steals and 50
blocks in one season. He was originally named to Dream Team III, but was
unable to play due to injury, allowing Gary Payton to take his place on
the team. Glenn's a scorer, already posting single games with 44, 39 and
37 points in his short career. As a rookie, he led the Bucks in
Three-Point Shooting with 90, burying 32% of his shots from beyond the
line. He also led his team and all rookies in scoring with 21.9 ppg. He
also has a four point play to his name. He signed a rookie deal worth
68.15 million dollars over 10 years. That's chump change compared to
say, what Juwan Howard got because he only signed a 2 year deal.Milwaukee
signed Glenn Robinson to a 1 year contract extension worth $12
million. Robinson is now signed through the 2004-05 season. On August 1,
2002 Milwaukee traded Glenn Robinson to Atlanta for Toni Kukoc, Leon
Smith, and a 2003 conditional 1st round draft pick. On July 23, 2003, Robinson's stay in Atlanta was cut short when he was sent to Philadelphia to replace Keith Van Horn in a four team trade. The deal sent Latrell Sprewell (from New York) to the T-Wolves, Marc Jackson (from Minnesota) and Glenn Robinson (from Atlanta) to the Sixers, Terrell Brandon (from Minnesota) and Randy Holcomb and a future #1 pick (both from the Sixers), and Van Horn ( from Philadelphia) to the Knicks. On February 24, 2005 Philadelphia traded Glenn Robinson to New Orleans for Jamal Mashburn and Rodney Rogers. Neither Mashburn or Robinson had played that season.
