It seems hard to believe that a year ago, most of the world watched in horror as the twin towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed as the results of two airplanes crashing into them. As a country, as a world, people from every corner of the earth have struggled to understand what warped and twisted logic brought the perpetrators of this disaster to act as they did -- and most of us have yet to grasp their reasoning. All we know is that there is a hole in the hearts of everyone who was affected by this event, a void left by the loss of those who died in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, and emptiness it will take lifetimes to fill, if ever they can be filled.

As the first anniversary to this event comes upon us, the grief and sadness at the untimely loss of so many lives is renewed, and again, we try to fathom the meaning behind it all.

This page is dedicated to those bright lights which were snuffed out on September 11, 2001. May we always remember them and what they gave up to remind us that the freedom we here in the United States hold so dear is never free, and that we will never give up the hope that someday, all mankind can enjoy the basic freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
