IndyGoth WebTeam Where most of us crowded ourselves into parties and compromising situations for the holiday eve, several hundred people crowded themselves into the space of Rhino's in Bloomington for a performance by none other than Rasputina. The all ages venue was packed solid with people, making decorative wings an eye-poking hazard and seeing anything at all damn near impossible. Opening up was Bloomington's Little Joe Gould, with a mix of raw edge rock fused with classical sounds provided by cello and keys. The band ended their set with flaming instruments and broken strings in the chaos. Making a double appearance, Mister E and Wickedgoth provided the soundtrack throughout the night before packing it up to head to Fusion for a late set. Rasputina was, of course, adorable. But it was packed. The room was solid with people and heat. What could have been a nicely intimate performance was an experience for the first row of people and a pain in the ass for the rest of the room. As respected as the performers are, the mutterings around the room were usually along the lines of "let's go outside and get some air". |
