Melt Away Bars


1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg, separated
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 cup chopped nuts
colored sugar

In large mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar, egg yolk, vanilla extract, flour, and 1/2 cup nuts; blend well. Spread in ungreased 15"x10" jelly roll pan. Beat egg white until frothy; spread over bars. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup nuts and colored sugar. Bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly; cut into bars.
