Sweet Spiced Cider
2 quarts and 1 cup sweet apple cider
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
3 cinnamon sticks (3 inches long)
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon whole allspice berries (about 16)
additional cinnamon sticks for stirrers
It Makes about 2 quarts or eight 8-ounce servings.
In a large saucepan, bring the cider, sugar, lemon juice, 3 cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice to a boil over high heat. Lower the heat and simmer; uncovered, for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the apple brandy. Strain into a heatproof pitcher. Serve immediately in mugs with cinnamon stick stirrers.
