Basic Bread Pudding


4 Cups milk
2 Cups (or more) stale bread (cubed)
2 Eggs
1/2 to 3/4 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/4 Teaspoon Nutmeg
1/3 to 1/2 Cup Sugar
1/4 to 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Cup melted butter

Scald the milk and cool add the bread cubes and soak. Mix the eggs, and
add the sugar, salt and mix well, add to the milk and bread and flavor with the
vanilla and nutmeg.

Pour into a greased baking dish and bake in a bain marie @ 350 for 60 to 75
minutes Test as you would any custard.

NOTE: The is a loose or custard type if you want a harder set increase the
eggs to 4 or to 3 for a medium set. In addition up to 1/2 cup of *dried*
fruit (raisins, apples, apricots, pears etc.) can be added
