Buttermilk Coffee Cake
Recipe By : The Turner House, Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada
Serving Size : 8
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 egg, beaten
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
TOPPING
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixer bowl, cream the butter and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla then blend in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Set aside.
In a smaller bowl combine ingredients for topping, except walnuts, and blend well.
Place half the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with half the topping mix. Add remaining batter, sprinkle with topping mix the top with walnuts. Place in the oven and bake 45 - 50 minutes.
