One Egg Chocolate Cake


1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup butter
Pinch of salt
1 egg
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 heaping cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup hot water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 scant teaspoon soda

Cream sugar and butter. Add egg. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk and hot water. Mix well. Add vanilla. Turn into greased baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F. until cake tests done, about 30 minutes.
