Candy Apples
4 Medium apples
1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
1 cup sugar
1 cup white corn syrup
1/2 cup water
4 wooden skewers
Wash and stem apples. Mix sugar, water, coloring and syrup in a boiler over moderate heat. Stir until ingredients are well mixed and begin to boil. Cook to 250 degrees F. or until a hard, yet flexible thread is formed when some of the syrup is dropped in cold water. Remove syrup from heat and dip apples, turning them to completely cover. Insert a skewer in each and lift out. Cool on wxed paper.
