Classic Tootsie Rolls

2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup cocoa
3 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup instant powdered milk
1/2 cup white corn syrup

Mix all ingredients together. (A standing heavy duty mixer helps immensely, this gets very stiff) Knead like you would for bread. Roll into rope shapes and cut into desired lengths. Twist into wax paper squares. These are very soft. I am working on trying to determine how to get that tootsie roll taste, as these taste a bit like cake frosting.
