Batter Fried Ice Cream

Most fried ice cream recipes have you roll the ice cream balls in cornflakes. This recipe actually uses a tempura-like batter to coat the hard-frozen ice cream balls.

2 cup all-purpose flour
12 oz. beer, opened and flat
2 eggs, room temperature
Oil for deep frying
Pure maple or raspberry syrup
Ice cream, shaped into balls and frozen

Mix the eggs, beer, and flour for batter. Dip the ice cream balls to cover in the batter. Drop into hot oil about 20 seconds for batter to cook crisply. Serve immediately. Pour syrup over the ice cream ball.
