Black Cherry Ice Cream
1 cup milk
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
3 cups fresh black cherries, chopped
In top of double boiler, heat milk to a boil. Beat together egg yolks, sugar and salt and add slowly, while stirring vigorously, to the hot milk. Cook, stirring, until thickened. Cool. Add heavy cream and chopped cherries to the cooled mixture. Churn-freeze.
