Umberto's Lasagna con Carne
1 to 1-1/2 lbs lasagna noodles
2 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/4 cup Bechamel Sauce 2
4 cups Meat Sauce
2 cups Bechamel Sauce 2
2 cups Parmesan Cheese, freshly grated
Cook 1 lb lasagna noodles (or 1-1/2 lbs if using packaged lasagna) al dente; 3 to 5 minutes for fresh lasagna noodles or 5 to 7 minutes for pacakged lasagna noodles.
Preheat oven to 350 deg F.
Butter the bottom of a 16x12x3 inch pan. Put a thin layer of Bechamel Sauce in pan. Put a layer of noodles on top of the Bechamel Sauce. Spread layer of meat sauce over noodles. Put a layer of Bechamel Sauce on top of the meat sauce. Sprinkle with a layer of Parmesan Cheese. Repeat for 3 layers, ending with a layer of noodles on top.
Put pan in oven at 350 deg F. and bake for 30 minutes. Remove pan from oven and allow lasagna to sit for 5 minutes to firm up before serving. Cut with a knife into 4x5 inch portions and serve on warm plates.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
