Buttermilk Pie

1/2 Cup Butter (melted) [or margarine]
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
3 tablespoon Flour
3 eggs (beaten)
pinch salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Cup Buttermilk
Nutmeg to sprinkle on top (optional)

Combine the ingredients in order: mix the butter with the sugar, add the flour and mix well; add the eggs and mix well add the salt, vanilla, and finally the buttermilk. Beat until smooth. Put it in a deep dish pie shell and bake at 400F for 10 minutes, then reduce to 350F for 50-60 minutes. Pie should turn a nice golden brown and a knife inserted should come out clean.

I think it is absolutely best when it is just still warm. (Not too hot, or it will be like napalm.)
