Melon Pickle


3-4 kg. Melon (6-8 lb.)
1/2 cup treacle
1 cup plain flour
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 kg. onions (2 lb.)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon Tumeric
1 1/4-1 1/2 Litre (2 1/2-3 pints Imperial) vinegar
Salt and spice to taste

Cut up melon and onions, and put on to boil with the other ingredients except mustard and flour. When the melon and onions are well cooked, mix the flour and mustard with a little water, and add to the pickle. Let simmer for 15 mins. Then take off to cool.
