Milk Rolls


1 pkg. dry yeast
1 tsp. white sugar
1/2 cup lukewarm water
3/4 cup milk
2 tsp. margarine
2 tablespoon white sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
2-1/2 to 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour

Sprinkle yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in lukewarm water. Let stand 10 minutes, then stir well. Measure milk, margarine, sugar and salt in a large bowl; heat to lukewarm. Beat in yeast then beat in flour cup by cup to make a soft batter. Turn onto floured board, knead only enough to form into a ball. Place in oiled bowl; Cover; let rise in warm place free from draft until double in bulk, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Turn onto flooured board; shape into rolls as desired. Place on oiled cookie sheet; let rise until double in bulk. Preheat oven to 375 deg. F. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
