Scones with Eggs
(English)
4 cup flour
6 tablespoon baking powder
1 tsp. salt
8 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/2 cup vegatable shortening such as Crisco
3 eggs, beaten
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
4 tablespoon sugar
For Shortcake:
3 pt. strawberries
3/4 cup sugar
milk or whipped cream or Cool
Whip
Cut shortening and butter or margarine into flour. Add salt, baking powder and sugar. Mix. Beat eggs and add milk to eggs (reserve 4 tablespoons of mixture). Add remaining mixture to first mixture. Mix only until everything is well mixed, using hands to mix. Turn onto floured wax paper. Roll or pat mixture to 1/2-inch thickness. Spread with reserved egg mixture, sprinkle top with 4 tablespoon sugar. Cut into squares and place on jelly roll pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve warm with strawberries and milk or cream or very good with butter and jam.
