Lasher’s Taltos daughter and half-sister, she is born to Rowan Mayfair in St. Martinville, Louisiana. While still in the womb she learns about the world. As a Taltos, she is born knowing what her mother knows and recalling ancient memories of her people. Emaleth is tall and thin, with long blond hair, and she is able to fend for herself as soon as she is born. She recalls the glen at Donnelaith when her people danced together, and she also remembers how humans and Taltos often failed when they came together to try to produce the Taltos. She knows from Lasher that the perpetuation of their propagation will mean the end of the human race, because both cannot exist on the earth together.
On her way to New Orleans, which is where Rowan urged her to go, Emaleth has sex with a man in a bar and makes a baby that dies quickly. Her breasts fill with milk, and when she arrives at First Street the nutritious Taltos milk. However, Rowan then kills Emaleth to ensure that the Taltos do not take over the world.
